"Photographers deal in moments that are continually vanishing,
and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth that can make them
come back again."

I love being a wedding photographer and have always felt privileged to share such
an important and exciting day with my clients.
My approach to a wedding is an artistic one, but I also recognise the need for some
posed, formal shots. Always with a second photographer, we combine to create the
best of both worlds with directed formal groups and fine art imagery alongside more
spontaneous and creative reportage style moments. I think the most original and
exciting wedding photographs are born from a fusion of classical lighting and posing
with artistic and contemporary ideas.
I photograph to tell a story, the story of your wedding day in images.
(My photography has changed a lot over the years since I started back in 1986
with a Canon 35mm camera that was given to me by my father. At the time
I was working in a picture framing shop in Bury St Edmunds that belonged to one
of the inspirations of my life, a gorgeous man called John Luddington. He was a
true artist, never considered money in his business, just wanted to create wonderful
art and beautiful artistic frames. He was a local legend and people travelled from
all over England to come to his shop and get his advice. He was the one who began
the long explanation to me of apertures and shutter speeds! I still have some of
the original prints I took with him. He was very patient and eventually the
penny dropped. It was very nerve wracking waiting for the negatives to be developed.
What a tense wait. I did my first wedding then, starting with a friend called Ruth.
I saw those photographs the other day again, and they weren't bad for a first
effort! If the wedding was shot on a or Saturday or Sunday I would have to
wait until Wednesday before I could see the results. I still use film some
times, and I still love the excitement it creates.
I use Canon 5D11 camera these days, although I still I still have my trusty film
camera. A computer has replaced the darkrooms and labs and an excellent local company
now handles all of my printing. I love digital photography, which is something I
never thought would happen. The possibilities are infinite, endles and creative
and I love every minute I spend in Photoshop with all the actions and textures that
are at my disposal to turn a photograph into something else. It wasn’t that
I didn’t think digital was any good before I changed, it was because I was just
happy with film. The results I now get are nothing short of superb! On the odd occasion
when I pick up my film camera I have to remember how it works.
I am passionate about wedding photography and I put my heart and soul into every
wedding I do. In my wedding business today, I make sure I contact my clients regularly
up to the big day to ensure that their experience is an enjoyable one and that their
individual requirements are met. I aim to provide a relaxed and fun wedding photography
service, leaving them with an elegant and stylish record of their special
day. I combine a mixture of reportage, traditional and contemporary with a strong
artistic slant.)
